I get confused about who really said the thousand mile journey quote above. Some sources say Confucius, others say Lao Zi. I think Lao Zi was Confucius’ teacher. Regardless, I keep this quote in mind for this journey of mine. It helps me remember that little steps go towards completing the journey. This is Step 2 or Day 2.
This day was spent cleaning and organizing the apartment. We are working on de-cluttering and simplifying our space–throwing or giving away non-essentials and keeping items to a minimum. I just feel that the qi in the apartment is so sluggish because we have so much stuff. We did not, of course, finish the whole apartment in one day. I hope to be able to sweep through the entire apartment by June 30. After that, we get ready to pack for our vacation! After cleaning and organizing the kitchen and dining room, it just felt more relaxed and calm. We like spending lots of time now in the dining room and I am more inspired now to cook with the kitchen so clean and organized. The key is to maintain. So, we’ve gotten rid of a lot of clutter (like those tons of take away plastic boxes!) and simplified things so that these areas will be easy to clean and maintain.
Needless to say, I did not get anywhere with my next objective (To become more physically active) but it is still very much on my mind. I hope that soon, it will come out of my mind and manifest in reality!
